A better class than the class which entered College for the tirst time in the fall of 1934 would be hard to find, No one ever convinced this class that it was green. Many 'uncalled-for remarks were hurled at the good nature of the newcomers concerning their jade appearance, the low plaiie of gheir intellect. and their appalling ignorance but the enthusiasm of the Freshman Class remained un aunte . U The Freshman Class of l934-35 reached a membership record larger than any reached by a preceding Hillsboro Junior College class. The meetings of this class were, from the first. well attended, enthusiastic, and interesting. Activities were started so immediately and with such zest that they seemed to be the result of an eicplosion. The Freshmen sponsored more social affairs than any other class in school, and they have the dis- tinction of promoting enjoyable entertainments. U This class furnished the first-term President of the Student Council, the editor of the Chieftain, and the editor of El Ciuiador. Not only the brains of the school have been provided by the Freshmen, but the same ngay be said of the brawnp the two heftiest men in school. Edwin Rogers and Bishop Ellison, are products of t is group. The class of 1934-35 was the first to inaugurate a purely Freshman song. The words of this song are as follows: Freshman Class, Freshman Class, Freshman Class, She's the best in the whole college town. With ideals so high and so true She is marching on to fame. Freshman Class, Freshman Class, Freshman Class, Cheer her on with a glad and mighty hand, For you'lI find she is always the same, She's got the rep! She's got the pep! She'll win her name.
