Where the place? ---- Hilliards High School. With our classmates of days gone by It thundersl It lightningsl It rains! It poursl And then the three Weird Sisters enter a Q . Cavern where stands a boiling caldron. ,- Thrice the brinded cat hath mewed Thrice and once the hedge-pig whined Harpy cries, 'Tis time, 'tis time! And thus they await the coming of Sir Edgar Dutton alias SIR LARRY ADKINS upon the hearth to learn the fate of '58 as he enters he cries, You secret, black and midnight witches, Icornmand you, tell me the fate that will be my classmates in the year, 1968. - Then one of the witches hissed in her terrible cries, Say, if thou'dst rather hear it from our mouths or from our masters? ln answer to this, SIR ADKINS shakes a fist and thunders, Call them, let me see them. Into the caldron they pour three potent ingredients, first a handsome youth wearing a laurel wreath. I have been called upon tonight by my servants, the Weird Sisters, to tell you the fate of your classmates. I pray you listen well. Had I but one ear, I'd hear thee! roars SIR ADKINS. Success gazes once, twice, thrice upon his crystal and then begins. I see in the year 1968 a large building, a museum. No, wait a moment. The name of the building is very dim: now I can see it more clearly, the lettering reads: World Wide BarberConvention. You, SIR ADKINS it seems, have been chosen the best barber in the world. I now behold the former SUR CAMPBELL and JOE BEE as the proud owners of Joe's Garage. A beautiful, girl attracts my attention now. Her name is NANCY ANDERSON, and she is the chief announ- cer of WCOL's FM station. Bring on more, SIR ADKINS cries. Let me not have to ask their fates, but tell me at once. At once! At oncel cries the crystal gazer. Ye shall hear more. There appears before me a happy couple. The gentleman is MONSIEUR FRED KLETROVETS, and his wife the former FRANCES ESPOSITO, who are now living in France, where they operate a Parisian Garden Farm. It seems to me many people are discussing a book recently written, titled MY TRIP TO MARS, written by JANINE RAPP. And now to continue, says success, I see the fashionable DARLENE GARDE modeling her exquisite clothes designed by her good friend SUE LARE. Many Paris designers are copying her latest costtunes. HOOVERS SOHIO SERVICE HILLIARDS, O,TR 6-6633 HILLIARDS BEAUTY sHoP HILLIARDS, o. 35 Witches Haze Predicts ' BLACK MAGIC My time is nearly up and I can scarcely see, continues Success, but it seems LINDA GIBBONEY, the well-known vocalist who is currently appearing at the Veteran's Memorial, has all her music played by TOMMY DODDRIDGE'S Band, which consists of DANNYCHENOWETH, GLEN KING, and BILL NIGHT- INGALE. I must go but as I leave you, far out in the lovely forest I see JIM HUGGETT, now a conservation officer, studying the ways and wills of the elements. The apparition of Success disappears saying, Dis- miss me enough. Then SIR ADKINS cries, but one more word ---- . Again an apparition arises from the caldron. This time it is the Head of Wealth. SIR ADKINS, it cries, hear me. I come to tell you unknown things. Listen to me. I see by my magic that in New York stands the RENNER Dress.Shop, owned and operated by SUE herself. I'm slowly fading, but first I see, in one of New York's suburbs, a beautiful home being built by the Elstun Construction Company, owned by LARRY ELSTUN. Before long, the famous actress, the former JEANETTE EARL and her husband, will move into it. One of your classmates has gone in for farming. I see JANET WEBER and her parson friend raising holsteins on a farm in Texas. I see a girl surrounded by furs, ah! it's ROSANNE WOLPERT. Since her former boyfriend, BOB BRIGHT, has become the leading aeronautical engineer in the world, Rosanne collects rare furs. Now whirling around the ballroom floor is GEORGINE HAINES, while obtaining a divorce from her seventh. On a large cattle ranch in Florida, JOHN VAUGHN, and RALPH WILT are living a life of lux- ury. SIR ADKINS, I know you'll be glad to hear that I now see DICK HARRISON playing along side some of his classmates of '58g CHAUNCEY SLANE, BOB GREEN, HAROLD EVANS, RON MC BRAYER, JIM CLARK and TOMMY MOORE, in the 1968 Rose Bowl Game. I also see CAROLYN MURRAY, CAROL BAUSCH, and JENNIE JOHNSON, cheering the team on to victory. Hurry, hurry, says SIR ADKINS. Tell me what happened to the most likely to succeed, LEE GRUGEL and LEIA CHORNIAK. Lee and Leia are boarding the famous ocean liner, owned by GERALD BADGLEY, bound for Java. Lee is our American Diplomat to settle a dispute and Leia is to Christian- ize the natives. I see MAHLON BRUMFIELD, CHARLES CAMERON and BERNARD CHAPMAN, headed for an ex- pedition to Siberia, to discover the value of the Siberian Onion, for a dyspeptic Eskirno. Tel1memore, pleads SIR ADKINS. His appeal was useless. The second apparition had disappeared. The thunder is heard again and the third apparition arises. This time it is the apparition of Happiness. As I gaze into the crystal ball, I see a large farming community in central Ohio where LARRY HOFFMAN, stock farmer: ED HOLLAR, grain farmer, TOM MOORE, dairy farmerg and JOE SMITH, chicken farmer, are all neighbors. They and their families recently spent a week in Washington, D. C., where they attended an Agriculture Conference. At this conference the Secretary of Agriculture, HENRY RINGS, gave the latest crop reports. I beg of you, hurry, implores SIR ADKINS. Well, I see another classmate of yours. I believe it's a contest. Yes, it is, and the judges are announcing the winners. They are: BILL ADAMS, best actor, DAWSON BALL, Mr. Americag and DON BATEMAN, Muscle Man. Coming into view now is an argument in a New York court room. It seems GEORGE BARRETT has won another case for a notorious criminal. BARBARA CRAIG is a lady patrolman in Chicago, being noted for getting more tickets a day than ten men patrolmen. 36 Success, Wealth, And Happiness BLACK MAGIC I discovered another of the class of '58 . It is MARIANNE FRY, owner of the Universe Orchard Farms. Next to her farm is VIVIAN BOYD, owner of the largest cabbage farm in the United States. Moving west, I see VELMA BOGGS as the star of a rodeo taking place in Colorado. Riding with her are her side kicks, PAT BURT, LEONA GILLITLY, LEONA HALL, andYVONNE I-IANKINS.Going south,Isee PHYLLIS RINGS and her husband, the owners of a prosperous greenhouse, living a life of luxury in Florida, I also see the world famous cartoon artist CARL PINNELL. Hurry, hurry, my time is limited, shouts SIR ADKINS, Be patient, replies Happiness. I see another of the class of '58 going across the ocean to Russia for the Olympics. It's DOT MC FARLAND and her famous pole vaultl Ithink, yes, she is the winner, and with her points U.S.A. has won again. GARY SWISHER is the bowling champion of the world. I see a beautiful building now. The main floor is the dress shop owned by the Smart Sisters, LINDA and DONNA. On the second floor is the beauty shop owned by JUDY LATHAM. Her beauticians are: SHARON HAUGHN and SHIRLEY SNYDER. The third floor is the shop of the famed tailor, MARTY HERF. I am now ir1 the central part of the United States at a lovely new camp for orphans. Topping the list Of people ahead Of it are: GARY DEVER, DAVE ROSEBERRY, GARY SHIVELY, DARLYNE DUN- STUN and MARY LYNN DOWNER. SONI FROGGETT is helping the children in their recreational activi- ties. On the coast of California, I see the following people boarding the first Moon Bound rocketship owned by BILL TINAPPLE. NELDA GAINES, MARY TRIMMER, MARY GRAY, LINDA GRIFFITH, and JOYCE SLANE are the privileged passengers. Some famous scientists taking notes on the expedition are: LELAND JOHNSON, ROBERT KIRK, and DICKSMITH. The very capable crew consists of pilot, TIM LAMBg co-pilot, BOB SWEENEYg navigator, JOE HILL, radar operator, LARRY GRENERg head stewardess, PATTI GARDg and co-stewardess, CHARLENE SKEEN, while nurse NELLIE LOU GARDEL- LA, is holding the passengers' heads. The rocket has blasted off and I am now back in New York at Radio City, watching the rehearsal of the Rockettes. Some of the class are now appearing with them. They are: LINDA CAMERON, MAYBELLINE COLLINS, ANN CONLEY, BARBARA JACKSON, ROSEMARY MONT- GOMERY, BARBARA MC KEE, and SANDY NASH. I am tiring and I must soon leave, but first of all I see PHYLLIS MONTGOMERY and her husband as the new owners of the Stork Club, which is now more famous than ever. Entertaining in the guest spotlight are TheDiamonds , which consist of BETTY FUNK, CAROL GRANT, PAT GUIFFRE, and CAROLYN WEEKS. I now see BILL GILLENWATER, DAVID WHEELER, GEORGE STUEBER, and NORBERT SPENCER in a test balloon, gathering scientific information for the State Department. The last message we heard from them, they were hovering over Mars, Wowll My last message is that I see two classmates of '58', who have entered into the holy bonds of matrimony, and are now members of the Housewives of Amer- icaQ CLARICE SPARKS and MARY TRIMMER, I beg of you to stay awhile, cries SIR ADKINS. Alas, the apparition disappears and the three witches croak seek to know no more, as they vanish from the hearth, amid thunder, lightning and rain. By Patti Gard, Phyllis Montgomery, and Nellie Lou Gardella HILLIARDS BEAUTY SHOP I-Iilliards, O. CONKLIN REALTOR Tr-6-7123 entimenlal Journey CLASS HISTORY '58' On a bright, sunny day in September, the one-hundred and fifty members of the freshman class kicked aside the leaves on the sidewalk and reluctantly entered the sacred halls of learning at dear old H. H. S. We cast a furtive glance around us and decided that our temporary license for the road of life would be under considerable strain for the next four years! However, we got off to a flying start in our FRESHMAN year with our class offi- cers to guide us. Fred Kletrovets as President, aided by Vice-President, Larry Adkins, Secretary, Leia Chorniakg and Treasurer, Gary Swisherg took us safely around the curves, dips and through many a dangerous road. We successfully promoted a candy sale and freshman dance - The Star Hop. Our first attempt at journalism was the publication of our class magazine - The Novice. Having safely waited through the red light of getting acquainted, and with due respect to our upper classmen, we proceeded with caution to our SOPHOMORE year. With the guide posts of cooperation, sincerity and enthusiasm as our constant compan- ions, we began to enjoy our role of amateurs on the road of life! Our first financial venture this year was another dance, the Turkey Trott. This was a financial gain, so we again repeated our venture with a Canasta Dance in April. Counting the money and scoring our gains and losses were President, Fred Kletrovetsg Vice-President, Frances Espositog Secretary Carolyn Morris, and Treasurer Bob Ebright. Mr. M. D. Hartsook, our esteemed superintendent left our staff this spring, to be replaced by Mr. Fred Daniels. By this time, we felt we might begin to accelerate a bit, so in our JUNIOR year, we took off down new avenues of learning. Wall Street had nothing on us for we had the big problem of investments for financial gain, but quickl The Junior - Senior Prom was fast approaching and our money casks were painfully shy of funds. Our class officers, President, Bob Ebrightg Vice-President, Henry Ringsg Secretary, Pat Guiffreg Trea- surer, Fred Kletrovetsg called a cabinet meeting and as a result we combined our talents in the lucrative business of sponsoring dances and presenting our class play, The Red House Mystery. The selection of rings and the coveted chance to work on the Wild- cat occupied us in the remainder of the year. In the spring came our long awaited big night at the Junior - Senior Prom. We danced away the night to the theme Paradise of the Deep. With the green light and an open view ahead, we entered upon our SENIOR year of high school. Mr. Warren Thomas, our principal, left our faculty to be replaced by Mr. James McFadden. There were many important decisions to be made and it was in a serious mood that we elected our class officersg President, Larry Adkins g Vice-Presi- dent, Ronnie McBrayerg Secretary, Janet Weberg and Treasurer, Jennie Johnson. Class pictures, class play, and senior prom are just around the corner of achievement. The thought of graduation ceremonies causes us to cast a nostalgic glance backward at our twelve years upon the road of life and learning. Finally, in our senior year we have become licensed drivers in the AAA Society. Attitudes - of alertness, Achievement - having overcome the mountains of twelve years of learning and Ambition - to seek further knowledge. There on the signpost ahead, written in big, bold letters, is the motto: We may meet many a by-pass on this road, but know that our future will be ably guided by the impressions gained through the untiring efforts of the learned faculty of dear old H. H. S. We look to the future with eager, searching minds, and know that not all our footprints will be left on the seats in the stadium at H. H. S.
