ROBERT T LEVIINE To the Class of 1958 It lS a significant distinction for this class to be the last to graduate from the hallowed halls of Old I'IlllhOl1a6 Thls year mark the culmination of fiftv five vears in our present school plant and 1 total of ninety nine years fsmce Hlllhouse was first 6St2lbllShCdD of continuous growth and progress in the educating of thousands of young men and women of our communitv Our Alma Mater has sent forth many alumni who have contrlbuted in no small measure to our American culture and wav of life Among her sons and daughters can be counted college presidents scientists teachers authors members of government and many others who have distinguished themselves Since the spring of 1859 the date when oul Alma Mater was first established many events have taken place on the American and world scene It was during the first year of our schools existence that Darwm came forth with h1s theory on Evolution from which evolved his book Origin of Species This was a landmark in nineteenth century SC18l'ltlflC and mtellectual revolu tion It is quite singular that at this milestone in our schools hlstory we are experiencing another sclentlflc and intellectual renaissance an effort to conquer outer space During the intervening conditions brought about by World War One and Two and the Korean War It was the faith and courage of our citizens in meetmg the challenge of the times that enabled them to overcome the obstacles which stood m the path of the growth and development of our great country This same kind of spirit will enable our country to contmue 1ts leadership IH bringing about understanding and peace to the world community It is now the responsiblhtv of your generation to parhclpate in helping to decide what are your real aspirations ideals and values and to d6tG1ITl1l'l6 ways of attaining them Your class has demonstrated a spmt of friendliness understanding strength of purpose loy altv and integrity I am confident that as you carry these tralts into everyday hfe each of you vull become outstanding and contributinv citizens of our societx To the Class of 1958 I say Farewell as an expression of good wishes at parting May every success be yours ln the years ahead Farevsell to Old Hlllhouse may Cod bless our Alma Mater in its new surroundings and help us to continue successfully our r1ch tr ld1tlOI'lb and future ach1ex ements Most smcerely ROBFRT T LEVINE Hlllhouse 26 Principal 12 s n a 1 n a 1 - KC !! .. ,, .
