Balcombe displays fine form as he cuts a tmil around end. The Rams started the season out with a bang by defeating Ware Shoals in their first game. Coach Freeman did not single out any outstanding players but said that the win was a good team effort. Scoring for the Rams were Dan Balcombe, on a pass from Leonard Sprouse, and Howard Hewitt on a running play.

THIRD ROW: Coach Eddis Freeman, Donnie Moree, Frank Gresham, Terrell Leeke, Dave Richardson, Dick Kinard, Danny Bayne, Butch Collins, Robin Hemphill, WVayne Garrett, Sammy Gault, As- sistant Coach Bill Brooks. The Rams reaped the rewards of their hard work and long practice this year. Under the instruction of Coach Eddis Freeman, the Rams posted a rec- ord of eight wins and two losses. Spirited effort and determination were the key factors in all the victories. They played top-notch football through- out the season with the exception of one game and one quarter. Coach Freeman fulfilled the vow he made when he came to Hillcrest. Give me three years and I will field a team which will sur- pass all records in the school's history. In the final sportswriters' poll of the season, the Rams were rated seventeenth in the state. Palmetto was the only team in the Western AA Conference which finished ahead of Hillcrest. IN HISTORY OF I-IILLCREST Head Coach Eddis Freeman can't bear to look as the Rams falter. During the halftime the players find it very hard to concentrate on the strategy which Coach Freeman tries to get across.

HILLCREST 26 CHAPMAN o The Rams displayed a powerful offensive attack as they marched over Chapman. Scoring for the Rams were Dan Balcombe-12, Leonard Sprouse-6, and Howard Hewitt-6. Hewitt, Collins, and Balcombe sparked the Rams on offense while Dave Richardson, Larry Snipes, and Dave King were credited with outstanding play in the line. Richardson shows his love for opposing players by embracing them fondly.
