As school draws to a close, he realizes that his time spent at Hillcrest High School has ended. The last class-the last pep rally--the final farewell to friends--the last nostalgic chorus of our Alma Mater--all become cherished memories. This is not an ending for it is only the beginning, a com- mencement for all who are departing from or ar- riving at Hillcrest. The students who come and launch their ven- tures on the Hillcrest campus in the early fall are confronted with many school activities. Everyone seems to reveal a true spirit as can be seen in faces cheering at football games and pep meetings. En- thusiasm continues to grow as preparations for the Shindy and powderpuff game begin. Jkt I w 5 Around the latter part of fall, students are usually overloaded with book reports, term papers, and last- minute tests before Christmas holidays, but they some- how find time to participate wholeheartedly in club meetings. This is the time of year when everyone enjoys especially the dances sponsored by organizations within our school. Eagerly awaiting spring, our students often find themselves engrossed in one activity after another, basketball games, intramurals, junior Follies, and the always successful Valentine Talent Show. Following close behind are the plans for the eventful Junior and Senior Proms which remain among our most treasured memo- ries as we near the end of another school year. ...- 3 is 6 As-pu.-..q.. ,Q-Q wi 3 g .0 1 guh., .ut Q A w w,1.,i.3v, I3 . xx S ., rv- N mg Developing from the many varied activities is a spirit which nt Hillcrest is a contagious, in- tangible presence. It cannot be seen itself, but its results are evident in the acts and attitudes of every student. This spirit is present not only at athletic events, but also in the long hours of hand practice, the generosity of giving, the growing interest and respect for student govern- ment, and the devotion to all school activities. It is seen in friendliness to newcomers. But most important of all is the pride of being a part of an expanding Hillcrest Senior High School. K wwf 4 Q V , . The Rams reaped the rewards of their hard work and long practice this year. Under the instruction of Coach Eddis Freeman, the Rams posted a rec- ord of eight wins and two losses. Spirited effort and determination were the key factors in all the victories. They played top-notch football through- out the season with the exception of one game and one quarter. Coach Freeman fulfilled the vow he made when he came to Hillcrest. Give me three years and I will field a team which will sur- pass all records in the school's history. In the final sportswriters' poll of the season, the Rams were rated seventeenth in the state. Palmetto was the only team in the Western AA Conference which finished ahead of Hillcrest.
