In Memoriam The memory of a great teacher becomes a living archive out of which flows a stream of inspiration. To Mrs. Olive Thomason Templeton, teaching was more than a profession: it was a calling. Fortunate, indeed, are we who knew her as teacher and friend. VVhat more fitting tribute can we pay to her memory than to say, Here was a teacher, sincere, conscientious, faithful, and fair ? She was sincere, without hypocrisyg conscientious, without bigotry, faithful, without boasting, and fair, without harshness. Her memory will always linger as a benediction upon her students and associates. Some will remtmber the facility with which she demonstrated the skills of typingf Some will remember her in connection with the intricate pattems of shorthand. Some will remember the patient ex- planations of the complex bookkeeping problems. Some will remember her encouraging them to write for the school paper. Some will remember her kindness in dealing with older students in veterans school. Some will remember her fortitude through a painful illness. All will remem- ber her as a living teacher, and her influence will be a living force.

Alma Mater, thou will ever live in memory Someone has compared the class section of a high school yearbook to an evergreen tree. When thinking of an evergreen the words fresh- ness, never dying, and constant renewal of new life come to mind. What better way is there to de- scribe our classes? In progress there is a joy and a sentimental sadness. Someday each of us must leave high school, which has been our way of life for several years, and face a new and chal- lenging world. It has been our goal to educate our minds sufficiently in order to be able to carry out our purpose in life. Each of us will be i saddened at the thought of leaving and perhaps a little frightened at the thought of beginning, but this is the plan, and life must go on. The life of the school is it's stu- dents. Each student will remember this particular year as special in some way. Thus, we can confident- ly say that though the years may pass and people disappear, the life of Hillcrest High School will always live in the hearts of those who have labored there. Alma Mater thou wilt ever live in our memory.
