F.T.A. mem- bers with sixth period study halls were frequently called upon to substitute in the classroom. By actively participating in the teaching program. members upheld the purposes of the club which are QD To learn about the opportunitities for service offered by the teaching profession, C27 To cultivate the qualities es- sential in a good teacher, CBD To become acquainted with the work of professional organizations for the improve- ment of education, and C41 To recognize the opportuni- ties and responsibilities of the individual teacher by ac- tively participating as a member of such an organization. F .T.A. members also participated in county and state activities. They attended the County F.T.A. XVork- shop at the Greenville County School Office and the F.T.A. State Convention.

SECOND ROVV: Lynn Alexander, Judy Bridges, Edna Knight, Eugenia Bums, Sue Cooper, Dorothy The special project of the Library Club this year was encouraging its thirty members to build personal li- braries in their own homes. At many of the club meet- ings during the year, programs were presented on the theme, Building a Personal Library. Group discussions, as well as other planned activities based on this theme, were a part of each Library Club meeting. Library Club members not only gave at least an hour of each school day assisting with work in the Hill- Green, Janet Bargutze, Shirley Greer, Gwen Phillips, Charlotte Martin, Linda Johnson. THIRD RONV: Roger Smith, Gilbert Libby. Not present, Rose Ann Cox, Donna Forrester, Suzie jones, Elaine jones, Pat Hawkins, Debbie Laws, Carolyn Slagle, Ann Nelson. crest Library, but they also found time to attend dis- trict meetings, to participate in the activities of National Library VVeek, and to visit the library of a nearby college. During all phases of their library work, they were aware of the purpose of the Library Club.
