Forei ll customs tau ht through proj ects, plays French, Latin, and the Spanish Clubs provided interested students with the chance to gain more knowl- edge about foreign countries. During the year these clubs learned about foreign customs through plays, proj- ects, and caroling. French Club had self-produced plays as one of its projects. Serving as officers were Christie Stockard, president, Tammy Self, vice-presi- dent, Sylvia Smallwood, secretary- treasurer, John Hopkins, reporter, and Mrs. Susan Foltz, sponsor. Preparing a Christmas basket for the needy and attending the state convention in Columbia were all part of the active Latin Club. The officers were Gail Romine and Danny Stock- still, co-presidents, Kay Murray and Eddie Johnson, vice-presidents, Cher- yll Beatty, secretary, Celine Schmid, treasurer, Debbie Hunsaker, histori- an, and Mrs. Rebecca Bell, sponsor. The Spanish Club members partici- pated in El Dia de la Raza, or Co- lumbus Day, and the White Rose Banquet on Pan American Day. Offi- cers were Ray Johnson, president, Danny Prewett, vice-president, Kathy Malone, secretary, Cheri Ohlin, treasurer, Jo Lynne Palmer- ton, reporter, Debbie Enlow, histori- an, and Miss Virginia Thomas, spon- sor. NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE . . . Front Row: Cindy Bowser, Linda Steele, Debbie Zongker, Connie Walker, Becki Stanfield, Vicki Sturgell, Barba Wimberley, and Jerry lubs write on research Tomorrow's Scientists and Engi- neers was the topic on which science students wrote research papers sug- gested by the Missouri Junior Acade- my of Science. Steve Younger, Arthur Adams, and Steve Scott extended their inter- ests and worked with facilities such as the computers at Southwest Mis- souri State College. A chilly morning in January found members viewing the lunar eclipse at 3:15 a.m. on the school parking lot. Leading a trip to the Springday plant were officers Ron Snelling, president, Steve Younger, vice-presi- dentg Walter Knapp, secretaryg and Arthur Adams, treasurer, Mr. Hugh Brewer, and Mrs. Mary O'Neal, spon- sors. N.F.L. hosted a speech and debate tournament at Hillcrest. Teams and individual events secured higher rat- ings in' competition. Officers were Danny Stiver, presidentg Vicky Stur- gell, vice-president, and Debra Zong- ker, secretary. Justice.
