A.F.S. members welcome foreign exehan e student American Field Service Interna- tional's 75 members pitched in to help foreign exchange student Antonio Cefala' to adjust his life to a new home and experience. Setting its goals at becoming ac- quainted with other A.F.S. students in Springfield, the club began to ful- fill these goals by having a social get together for A.F.S. students. The club members united in selling Christmas cards and took a step fur- ther to make Antonio's stay a long remembered one by purchasing him a Hillcrest Highlighter. With Mrs. Dorothy Lilly, Mrs. Au- drey Bridges, Miss Mary Beth Peter- son, Mr. Lowell Pyle, and Miss Vir- ginia Thomas as sponsors, A.F.S. made its mark in the history of Hill- crest. Christy Stockard, president, Rox- anne Bedell, vice-president, Danny Stiver, secretary, Tammy Self, Adult Chapter Liaison, and Sheree Apple- by, treasurer, were the officers cho- sen to serve the club this year. With the supervision of their spon- sor, Miss Martha Ann Wells, Anchor Club offered its support in fund-rais- ing activities such as the Cancer Drive, and also aided the Highlanders in selling candy to raise money for their trip to Washington, D. C. tud made of careers Special emphasis was placed on vo- cational careers in Future Business Leaders of America. Studies were made regarding College Curriculum in business. In order to become better ac- quainted, members acted out office procedures. They were involved in working out standards for employ- ment in firms and office jobs. To become better acquainted at the beginning of the year, they held a eookout under the direction of Mr. L. Dugan and Mrs. Christine Squibb, sponsors.
