The members found themselves discussing questions of internation- al interests at the United Nations at Greenwood Laboratory school. To gain experience in learning how elections are run, some worked vol- untarily in the state and national elections in 1970. They heard speakers on opposing sides in the recent city elections talk on wheth- er to change or not to change the present form of city government. The purpose of the Quill and Scroll, an international honorary society for high school journalists, was to place journalism on a high level at Hillcrest. One of the more active projects which is sponsored for the student body was the an- nual yearbook autograph party. Awards for journalistic excellence were given at the annual Journal- ism Awards banquet, sponsored by the chapters of the four public high schools.
