'rigid fsz tw- ' ti? ,uf Oyofa ,W Q5 it Students had the opportunity to meet other students by par- ticipating in the many activities that Hillcrest offered during the year. These activities were planned to meet the students' extra- curricular and curricular needs with competitive sports, active clubs, and interesting classes. Under the leadership of Curt Lemmon, student body president, the school was able to en- rich the students' experience and outlook on problems and phi- losophies in a space-age world. V For the first time, a Buzz Day assembly with the theme Getting to Know You took place the first week of school to welcome the new students and get them into the swing of things. Homecoming came late in September with the theme The Enchanted Forest. The event was highlighted with the crowning of poised Debbie Sweet as the 1969-70 Regalia Queen. An enthusiastic and zealous cast made the musical The King and l a night to remember for all who attended. Christmas time brought out the spirit of giving as Hillcrest students overflowed Christmas baskets, thoughtful of those who would not have a plentiful Christmas. Later, at the Easter season, invalids and shut-ins were given Easter lilies. Leading the students in their enthusiasm at various games and other activi s were the spirited i969-70 cheerleaders aided by the highstep ng Highlander Drum and Bugle Corp. To add to interest, the s ppy marching band and the choir performed many times thrbug ut the year. L! f' get af-.4 iii? if?
