Administrators Express Faith in Individuals Hillcrest in twelve years has grown to an enrollment of 1407 students, and a staff of 70 certificated and 36 non-certificated personnel with Mr. William Gist as its principal. The philosophy of Mr. Gist and staff is entrenched in these basic concepts: We believe in the dignity and uniqueness of the individual. 1 We believe that the personnel of the school is responsible for creating and maintaining a professional attitude, mutual re- spect, concern for others, an equal opportunity for each student, and a faith in students to perpetuate and enrich our democratic way of life. We believe that the school must assume the primary respon- sibility for academic training, and must share with the family, church, andall other constructive community agencies in the development of wholesome attitudes, moral, spiritual, ethical, and aesthetic values. Mr. Neal Grubaugh, assistant principal, believed that he should try to help every young person he could in the short time he has to learn that attitude and interest as well as the ability to learn are vital to the young person's success.
