Under the leadership of President Ioe Welsh, the Student Congress proved to be one of the most active clubs on campus. Working to serve the students as well as the school, Congress mem- bers came up with many varied types of enter- tainment. Some of the events included movie nights, dances, the annual Hallowe'en hayride and spookhouse, the traditional Western Day bar- becue, and the finale to a year of hard work, Spring Fling '77. Student Congress was also re- sponsible for the intramural program offering students and clubs a chance to compete in bas- ketball, volleyball or flag football. Hillsboro: Queen Donna Sewall By num: Denise Sulak, Aquillag Stephanie Wilson, Itasca. Hill County Day at the State Fair gave everyone at the H.I.C. campus a break from classes. Hill Iunior College always plays an active part in the activities scheduled during the day at the Fair. Band members provided free concerts several times throughout the day while choir and ensemble members entertained the many Fair visitors. Queen Donna Sewall and her court were presented at a style show during the after- noon. Always a high point of the day, the twighlight parade gave the queen and her court a chance to ride beautiful, lighted floats while the area high school bands marched and played. 26 W ON STAGE x 4,' m fr 4 -L2-4-4 X 1 Political Groups Enjoy 1-.-'.-i- 2: ,JQ J. wr.. 97.-'.f ' I-915. -' 'ugxf-'7' V ig ' jf if gf-'gr ,gc -wg. Enthusiasm and energy are just two of the tools used to incite spirit. Other duties included painting the many posters present during the games and decorating the gym. Along with Rocky Cleve- land, or Iohnny Reb as he is more commonly known around campus, the cheerleaders were always present at games actively and energeti- cally doing their job. .tiff ,lllliiil flllulll zigzag ,lj it A C' '1 'l,: ' E ll , eytfg-'fl ,., 5 ,- L--AI iii, Q' Y, :Vr .: ' :sf A 1 1-124 .ES U it ' 5 f A, f 4 I it.-it-,Li - -' I f - at 5. So did we, as witnesses to Ten- nessee Williams's famous play. The troubled family drama deals with the question of reality, as delicate, perverse Blanche and her brutal brother-in-law clash in an attempt to maintain very different ideas about life and living. The H.I.C. production was enriched by an imaginative set that captured the feeling of New Orleans's old section, by dixieland music pro- vided by the jazz band, and by a large and vigor- ous cast. The ten returning letter and the fourteen new members that Coach Mazuca recruited last summer worked hard to provide exciting baseball for the H.I.C. fans. The Rebels had a tough 15 game season. Their season record stood at 32 wins, 32 losses. Their conference record showed 8 wins, 14 losses. 74 . ff i Z? i', ' l 1 , gg 1 U V 'S A lu 1 VV I 13 , ,. VV 5. vi 1 Y - 4 lf,- ,I A r V ' P . The process of selection is long and complex, involving faculty nominations and committee perusal of candidate's credentials. Who's Who students must have maintained an acceptable grade point average, must have par- ticipated in several campus activities, and must have demonstrated leadership ability in those activities. Many students are considered for the honor each year. Those who are, at last, chosen are not the only fine students on cam- pus, but those who seem to have made the best of their opportunities, their abilities, and their time at H.I.C. Dr. Donald Anthony, Vice-president in Charge of Student Affairs at Texas Eastern University, delivered a graduation ad- dress which emphasized the idea that education is a life-long process. The cere- mony also honored Renee Dollar, who finished her years at H.I.C. with a perfect four-point average, and Iacque Carmichall, this year's recipient of the Chamber of Commerce Citizenship Award.
