VICTORY ON THE HOME FRONT . . . Physical Education classes took on a new meaning this year as the health of our country became a vital Weapon of national defense. Although not subjected to the rigid Commando train- ing of the boys, the girls of Hillsboro College and I-ligh School, under the direction of Miss Buice, carried out an active program of healthful fun. Tournaments in both badminton and basket- ball Were enthusiastically staged, and rigid calisthenics kept the girls in shape. Championship sextet of the badminton tournament among college girls P.E. classes, these girls smile victoriously over their success. Mary Eastland, Reba Coats, and Elizabeth Patterson were the top trio When the final scores were tallied. Close on their heels as dangerous runner-uppers were Bessie Lee Wirnbish. Ruth Cocek, and Sibyl Cypert.

UWM! ZCZMQZW Beauty and Brains . . . Combining fun with much needed body-building exercises, these beauties of Hillsboro schools go through their daily dozens on Frazier Field. Getting the kinks out of rusty joints before breaking up into teams for badminton, basketball, and volleyball, helps keep the girls nimble and fast on their feet. From these lines will come WAACS, WAVES, SPARS, and Marines, physically fit for active duty, due to their Wise training.
