14 I Both fourth grade classes have been learning multiplication, division, along with learning addition and subtraction in higher numbers. Mr. Greer's fourth graders held the final election in his room with a confidential voting booth and numbered voters. The class made a calendar for the classroom, pictures of horns of plenty to hang from the ceiling, and pictures of Thanksgiving scenes to hang on the window. For Christmas they made pictures of Santa Clause and his reindeer, wreaths, and Christmas scenes of cities. Before they left for Christmas vacation, they had their annual Christmas party with homemade treats and the annual mov- ie. ln February, they exchanged Valen- tines cards and had a Valentine's day party. For Easter they had an egg hunt and had a big Easter party. At the end of the year they handed in their books, said good bye to their friends, and got prepared for the summer as they do every year. Bonnie was pregnant in early November. Also on November 7th, both fourth grade classes had an elec- tion. They divided the two classes into two different political parties. One was the Dolphins and the other was The Great White Mice. Each political party had their own platform or what they would do if they were the president. Some of the ideas were higher wages, afternoon recess everyday, and fines for bad behavior in class. The two presidential candidates were Travis Lohrenz and Matt Siemonsma. Mrs. Patterson's class also made small vil- lages with plastic and paper houses, toy cars, and small play animals for their Social Studies Class. Also her fourth graders made a calendar with pictures of Santa Clause to cross out the days as they went by. Mrs. Patter- son's class put up a Christmas tree for their party and to put the presents that were to be exchanged under it. ,-2' - f 4, ,wget ' ' 1 i .... ,. ' ' l .J-f .
