The Facult Help Students Grow Mr. Birkholz has been teaching in Hill City for twelve years. He received his B. S. in Education at Black Hills State College. This year he taught elemen- tary science and junior high math. He also coaches girl's track and is the sev- enth grade class advisor. This is the eighth year in Hill City for Mr. Hayes. He received his B. S. in Sec- ondary Education at Northern State College. Mr. Hayes teaches junior high shop. Mr. Krogstrand has been teaching in Hill City for four years. He attended Dakota State College to receive his B. S. in Secondary Education. He teaches eighth grade English and is the junior high basketball coach. Mrs. Nicholas taught at HCHS for the first year. She received her B. S. from South Dakota State University. She previously taught at Custer and Miller. S. in Education at Black Hills State College. He instructs junior high and elementary P. E. This is Mr. Knapp's second year at Hill City. He attended Black Hills State College to receive his B. S. in Educa- tion. Mr. Knapp teaches junior high so- cial studies and is the eighth grade class advisor. Mr. Larson has been teaching In Hill City for five years. He received his AAS in Physical Therapy at St. Mary's Ju- nior College and his B. S. in Secondary Education at Dakota State College. He teaches junior high science and elemen- tary P. E. He also coaches boy's track and is the seventh grade class advisor. This is Mrs. Peterson's first year in Hill City. She attended the University of Wisconsin to receive her B. S. She pre- viously taught in Rapid City and in Su- perior, Wisconsin. Mrs. Peterson teach- es seventh grade English.

They real- ly enjoy the new science and math books. The kindergarteners are learning how to color in the lines, count, and read. There are nine people in kindergarten this year. The Halloween party was a great success with bobbing for apples and the haunted house. The students were thrilled to have Smokey visit school. He told them how to prevent fires and showed a film. This year, Mr. Greer teaches fourth grade reading, third and fourth grade math, and science. He re- ceived his B.S. in Education from the University of South Dakota. This past summer he worked at Mt. . Rushmore. Mrs. -lobman is teaching the Kindergar- ten classes again forthe seventh year. In the past years, she taught only the last semester. This year she teaches full-time because her class is so large. She received her B. A. at Wayne State College. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, gardening, and cooking. Mrs. Prautzsch has been teaching in Hill City for ten years. This year, she is teaching sixth grade homeroom and fifth grade math. She received her B. S. and M. S. in Education from Chadron State College. She also holds the posi- tion of secretary in HCEA. Mrs. Prince is teaching grades Kinder- garten through sixth grades in Key- stone for the second year. She attended Black Hills State College to receive her B. S. in Elementary Education. Her hobbies include skiing, sewing, reading, and taking care of her new son. Mrs. Swartz teaches the first grade. She is also the drill-team advisor this year. For the first time, she is the cheerlead- ing advisor. She has been teaching in Hill City for four years. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen and received her B. S. in Elementary Education. Her hobbies include danc- ing, and playing piano. IYQFI' I arol -lobman PIN' H E' I' ff, Barbara Kenton Rhonda Prince Prautzsc in D 3 J . Ms. Byerly has been teaching in the Hill City School system for six years. This year she is teaching the first grade. She attended Black Hills State College to receive her B. S. in Elementary Edu- cation. This past summer she enjoyed a three week trip to Port Angeles, Wash- ington, and Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Halter is the elementary principal for the second year. He received his B. S. at South Dakota State College and his M. S. at the University of South Dakota. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and camping. He also t.raveled through Colorado this past summer. Mrs. Kenton is in her fifth year of teaching at the Hill City Elementary School. She is teaching the third grade again this year. She attended USD to receive her B. S. Her hobbies include' reading and enjoying time with her son. Mrs. Prelle is teaching fifth and sixth grade social studies, spelling, writing, and Encore and Impressions reading. She attended Chadron State College to receive her B.S. in Education and en- dorsment in Special Education. This is her first year of teaching in Hill City. She previously taught in Hemingford, Nebraska. Mrs. Shuck is teaching the second grade this year. This is her first year at Hill City. She previously taught at Hot Springs, Wood, Winner, and Rapid City. She received her BS. in Educa- tion at Black Hills State College. Her hobbies include photography, music, dance, and writing. She spent a week of her summer camping in the Tetons. Miss Willett is teaching the Combina- tion Class, which includes t.hird grade spelling, third and fourth grade social studies, and fifth and sixth grade Eng- lish. This is her first year at Hill City. She previously taught at Treasure Isle School in San Diego, California. She at- tended Vancouver Bible College and re- ceived her B. A. degree and Point Loma to receive her teacher's certificate.
