The band received high ratings at the Solo and Ensemble Contest in Rapid City and at the annual music competions held at Chadron State College and Black Hills State College. p Junior Band member Troy Bittner was selected to both the All-State Band and the All-State Orchastra for a second year in a row. 5. .The band held a Christmas concert and their annual spring concert. Both were well attended with over 500 people from the community at each concert. fl The band was also seen at many home football and basketball games performing during intermissions. The band also performed for the graduation ceremony held at Mt. Rushmore. . Mr. Earley spent his spare time helping his junior class raise prom money. X Music is Love in search of a Word. EE . 4 . E E If E Learning Spainish helps students . conquer the English language. , 'HIGH SCHOOL' ' Mrs Kim D'Hont Sparnrsh and English 1... Students learn a new language and life Mrs. Kim D'Hunt taught students a new language and way of living they had never heard of before. Students explored the mexican culture as well as the Spainish language. Students visited Mexico City, small villages and the attractions of Mexico without leaving the classroom. They also studied the lifestyles of Mexican citizens and made a pinata for the holidays. Mrs. D'Hont also taught several English classes including Freshmen E V gWriting and Grammar, and Literature I. Students learned about the basics of writing and the English language and read from a variety of authors. Students also wrote and produced one-act plays that were performed g g ' in their writing classes. Amanda Engstrom also guided the students through many concerts Students learned about tone production sight reading and the use of sol fa In addition to their many concerts the choir participated in the Southern Hills Music Festival and the High Plains Festival at Chadron State College Mrs. Engstrom and her husband Gordon Engstrom will move on next year and go back to college She will be working on her master s degree in 'Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul.
