FLYI- There occurred on July 10, 1959 one of the worst forest fires in the history of the Black Hills. As the fire came within nearly 'miles of Hill City a crew of twenty boys from Hill City High School was first to respond. They were recognized as one of three five the the best crews on the job. The name 'Ranger' was given them in honor of their good re- cord. 1 i . v . ' fy 0. 'IQ . W' 4, ' V y tj s--' V A 6-NV - Y r f . J' .,L,,,,-Q ..': -r - ' I ,ff YQ,-. ' A 1 vi . Q W I A , ...P ,. , H? I- , The senior class when graduating from Hill City School in 1956 set a date to meet at Mr. Ganron's home on May 22, 1966. Mr. Ganron is still superintendent at Hill City School and the set date has arrived. As I drove up at tie Gannon hruse I noticed a well dressed dignified looking young man getting out of a pink cadilac. after a second glance I recognized him as Paul Gorsth. He has followed in his brother's footsteps as a car sales- man. With him is Richard Norris, wko after graduating from the School of Mines, is now manager of the boat docks at Wheel Inn. We were chatting ard talking over old times when the former cleola Brosmire, her husband, and their two children came in. It seems that Cleola married a doctor at the St. Mary's Hospital a few days after she graduated from nurse's training. Cleola warned us about asking Lillian Knudsen about Ler boy friends. It seems tnat after chasing men for ten years Lillian still hasn't caught a hus- band. all of the gang seem to be here how. OL! No, on second thought where is Delbert Edwards? Here he comes now, driving in the drive way in an old jeep he uses for fislirg and hunting. Just guess wiat Le's been doing! He's been fislirg and he lasL't even bothered to clange his clothes. In his hand he has his prize catch, a 21 incl trout. Bill Bartrtm has inherited enrugb money frbm an uncle he didn't even know he had tr Leep kim comfortable the rest of his life. Raymonc Hardesty is a Navy Officer. me is making it his career. Barbara Hallsted Bills is here with her husband and five children. Well Barb, only eight more to go to keep up the family tradition. Warren Barfoot is still in the army. He says he receives quite a few letters daily from the Custer girls that are still holding the torch for him. ' Melford Kaubisch ard his fiance, Patty Nash, are here. Patty just told me Melford only has another year in the Sea Bees and then she and nelford are going to U6 married. Nadine Belmont is a registered nurse at the St. John's Hospital in Rapid City. Mr. Petty is a retired teacher and he and his family are living very com- fortable in Hill City. Time has gore dy so fast that no one seems to realize just what time it is btt it is very late and some of us have quite a ways to travel home so we had better say good-by and be on our seperate ways.
