Flower - Pink Rose Color - Light Blue And White In the fall of 1944, eleven little youngsters started on the path to higher education. They were as follows: Ronald Boeck, Larry Casper, Merle Flesner, Donald Johnson, Gloria Stuhmer, Dale Vannier, Barbara Wilken, Joan Jelkin, and Renetta Petersen. Miss Glenn was our teacher for the first three years. Upon entering the third grade we lost Ronald Boeck, Merle Flesner, and Roma Lou Lindau, but gained Bonnie Einspahr, Lyle Casper and Lyla Casper. In the fourth grade Bonnie Einspahr left our cunning little group. Joy Henrickson taught us eager youngsters with Susan Dinnis, LeRoy Frerichs and Cyraldine Fritz Joining our class. In the fifth grade Verna Vannier had the pleasure of teaching us. This year we gained Joyce Turks. In the sixth grade Daniel Paulsom, Elvera Rocker, and Dwaine Osterbuhr had the privilege of Joining us. Mr. Shreve was our teacher. Elna Saathoff, Donna Henrickson, and Lorraine Harms Joined us in our seventh year. We entered the eighth grade with thirteen in our class. Mr. Glenn taught us in the seventh and eighth grades. Upon entering high school, our second big step in higher education, our class con- sisted of the following: Larry Casper, Lyle Casper, Lyla Casper, Joan Jelkin, Barbara Wilken, Susan Dinnis, Gary Sanders, Elna Saathoff, Lorraine Harms, Elvera Rocker, Dwaine Osterbuhr, Daniel Paulsom, Arlan Johnson, and Ronald Johnson. Susan Dinnis and Daniel Paulsom decided to leave us in our sophomore year, but Terry Steinkruger and Raymond Frerichs Joined our class. Again we made the grade and we were called the Jolly Juniors . We lost Terry Steinkruger, and gained Jean Pickett. We have the pleasure now of being called the full-fledged seniors , a name we are proud to carry. The night of Commencement which was May 17, 1956, we received our diplomas and turned our tassels to a world of unknown. A day which we shall never forget. Senior Class 14 Class Will We, the Senior Class of 1956, being of sound mind do hereby will the following to the faculty and underclassmen. In return for our generous gifts they must faithfully execute the official duties which were given by the seniors. I, Elvera Rocker, will my ability to hook a man to Naomi Johnson in hopes she does as well as I did. I, Lorraine Harms, will my nickname, Hod Rod to June Johnson for her tremendous speed . I, Lyle Casper, will my height to Darrel Adam in hopes that he will use it to the same advantage as I did. I, Raymond Frerichs, will my driving ability to LeRoy Frerichs so he can learn to drive. I, Ronald Johnson, will my nickname Hoody to Bruce Zobel so that he can get further with it than I did. I, Dwaine Osterbuhr, will my basketball abilities to Gale Stratman provided he does better than I did. I, Elna Saathoff, will my quiet ways to Joan Casper. I, Gary Sanders, will my ability to get to bookkeeping class late, to the next class that takes it. I, Joan Jelkin, will my plumpness to Jeanne Rewerts. I. Lyla Casper, will the glitter of my class ring to Margery Borgman so that she keeps Bill's shined always. I, Barbara Wilken, will my tin clarinet to Mr. Straatmann so he can dispose of it whatever way he wishes. I, Arlan Johnson, will my big feet to Gary Kruse so that he can walk in a straighter line. I, Larry Casper, will my ability to sing to Dale Schwartz in hopes that he will go farther than I did. To the Freshmen, we want to wish you the best of luck in the coming years. Sophomores, our studious ways and leadership ability. Juniors, we will our ways of finding out about the theme of the Junior and Senior Banquet. To Mr. Lewis: Our ability to be quiet in study hall. Mr. Glenn: All our tests we did not pass. Mr. Straatmann: All the trouble we caused in band and chorus. Mr. Yost: The best of luck in the coming years. Mrs. Lynch: Our great energy to get all our work done in Home Ec. and bookkeeping. 15 To the Janitor: All the times we borrowed his keys. Class Prophecy What: A reunion of the graduates of '56. Who: The graduates, their husbands, wives, and children. When: May 17, 1966, at 11:30 A.M. Where: The new gymnasium of Hildreth High School. We were all happy to receive an invitation to the class reunion. As we had missed our classmates and our wonderful high school days. Questions such as What is your occupation sir? , Are these two youngsters yours? All form a picture in the mind of each graduate of '56. Joan Jelkin arrived with her husband who is a doctor. She tells us she is now working in Denver and enjoys being a nurse. Mrs. Elvera Dalman, known in high school as Elvera Rocker, was a little late in arriving as her two little girls were not feeling well that morning. She told us all to come down the 26th of May and help her and Randy celebrate their wedding anniversary. They have been married ten years. Raymond Frerichs arrived with his wife, Linda, from their farm west of Franklin. He is doing very well on the farm, as he drove up in his 1966 Plymouth. Elna Saathoff is now working at the Omaha Exchange for one of the radio announcers. She informed us that she is still single. Barbara Wilken has completed her four years of college in the field of Home Economics. She is now teaching in Sweetwater, Colorado. Barbara arrived about ten minutes late as she usually does. Dwaine Osterbuhr arrived in his green '56 Ford from Lincoln. He is now construction manager of the Schoolhouse Builders Incorporated. His next engagement will be to build Hildreth's new schoolhouse. Ronald Johnson arrived from his small farm near Macon, which his father gave him as a graduation present. Ronald had just recently married a very pretty girl from Franklin. Ronald says he has been having financial difficulties because his wife finds his check book too handy and convenient. Arlan Johnson is now engaged in farming near Macon, where he is doing very well. He and his wife arrived early in order to greet the former classmates of Hildreth High. Lyle Casper has become considerably heavier. He said he was doing quite well as a Civil Engineer. He was accompanied by his wife and also his two sons who have basketball in their minds already. Lyla Casper and her husband Bud arrived in their black and white Ford. They were de- layed because their boy and girl twins were such a problem to get ready on time. Lyla is very busy taking care of their twins and getting Bud off to work, as he teaches in the Univer- 16 sity of Florida. Lyla says when she finds leisure time (which she makes sure she has) she goes riding in her yacht, which she said they really couldn't afford. Pastor Larry A. Casper arrived with his wife and his seven year old son, Larry Jr. He is the spitting image of the mischievous Larry we used to know. Larry informed us that he is now Pastor at a Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. Lorraine Harms arrived with her latest boy friend. She said she wasn't ready to get married yet because she was still shopping for the 6'4 type. Lorraine also informed us that she is still employed at the Brewster Hospital and is doing very well. Gary Sanders arrived in his new 1966 Ford Thunderbird from Oregon saw mills. He was accompanied by his charming wife and Gary Junior, who is now a year old and just like his dad.
