Class History At the beginning of the school term in 1942, a group of small, but active, youngsters enrolled in the Hildreth Public School. They were as follows: Billy Denman, Shirley Stuhmer, Dean Jelden, Harold Bunger, Lyle Nordbrock, Larry Schwartz, Brian Halbert, Lavon Johnson, Lily Anne Hansen, and Evon Nordbrock. During the second year only eight of the original ten returned. The ones lost during this time were Billy Denman and Lyle Nordbrock. We also gained Paul Harms. And so we were nine happy kids off in a year of adventure and excitement. Upon entering our third year we were all the same crowd, but on September 23 we lost Paul, and again on February 12 Lavon moved away. So we continued just us seven through the fourth grade of our phase of the educational world. At the beginning of our fifth term in Hildreth, two more joined us. They were Marilyn Tjaden and LaDonna Knapp. In the sixth grade Dean Jelden, Larry Schwartz, Brian Halbert, Harold Bunger, Evon Nordbrock, Marilyn Tjaden, Shirley Stuhmer, Lily Anne Hansen, and Paul Harms composed the lively group. In our seventh year we lost Paul H. but gained Peggy Endicot. At the second semester of the eighth grade, Peggy moved away. So on to high school we went with our knees knocking from fright and holding the name of the Green Freshmen. We started our new but exciting adventure with this group: Larry Schwartz, Harold Bunger, John Schmidt, Brian Halbert, Dean Jelden, Lavon Johnson, Harold Eckhoff, Donald Loschen, Carol Frecks, Shirley Stuhmer, Lily Anne Hansen, and LaDonna Knapp. At the beginning of the second semester we were joined by Karen Caspers. In our Sophomore year we remained the same except we lost Harold Eckhoff. In our Junior year Donald L. left this group, but we did gain Beth Schroder. On entering our last and most exciting year, we lost Lavon J. , but at last we carried the name of being full fledged Seniors only to enter into a world un- known following the Commencement Exercises on May 18, when we receive our diplomas and turn our tassels; a day never to be forgotten. Class Will I, Larry Schwartz, will all my musical talent to Paul Harms; maybe he can get a few more public appearances. I, Brian Halbert, will my ability to pick locks to Jerry Johnson, providing he doesn't get caught. I, Shirley Stuhmer, will my ability to hook a man to Wanda Frerichs. I, LaDonna Knapp, will my artistic ways to Dick Fuerst if he can stay in one jslace long enough to accomplish something. I, Harold Bunger, will my quiet and agreeable ways to Ronny Nordbrock. I want it to stay in the family, you know. I, Lily Hansen, will all my ex-boy friends to Naomi Johnson, providing they don't hinder her volleyball playing. I, Dean Jelden, will my nickname, Jerky , to Sharron Whipple; it seems as though she likes it better than I do. I, Carol Frecks, will my studious ways to Dwaine Osterbuhr. Maybe he can find more time to study than I did. I, John Schmidt, will my manly physique to Leroy Frerichs, knowing that he will become the track all-star. I, Beth Schroder, will my glasses to Denny Reil. (Anyone who uses their eyes as much as Denny needs them. ) I, Karen Caspers, will my nickname, Pooch , to Mr. Crist's dog. We, the Senior Class of 1954, will the following to the faculty and the under- graduates: To Mr. Lewis: All the money we owe him. Mr. Crist: All the tests we talked ourselves out of along with all the gripes Mr. Zimmerman: All our off notes in music. Miss Freeman: All of our speed tests and our quiet ways in typing class. Mrs. Lynch: All of the entrances we forgot in the play. To the janitor: All of the messes we made. To the Freshmen we will our studious ways. To the Sophomores we will our talents and knowledge in music, athletics, and dramatics, etc. , providing they use it and put it to a good use as we tried to do. To the Juniors we will our leadership ability and our co-operative ways.
