Because of her services to us since 1945, we wish to dedicate the 1960 Hisodak to her. This year Miss Drew taught English I, Eng- lish n, English IV, and Spanish I. She received her B. A. degree at USD in Vermillion, South Dakota. Her graduate work was done at USD in Vermillion, South Dakota, U of I, Iowa City, Iowa, and SDSC in Brookings, South Dakota. Her major is English and her minors are speech and foreign languages. During the fall season, she is often busy with Homecoming activities. In the winter, she can be found busily correcting papers for her many students, or helping someone with his English problems. As spring approaches, she energe- tically prepares the seniors for their last schooldays—helping with Skip Day, Baccalau- reate, and Commencement. And so to you, Miss Drew, we dedicate the 1960 Hisodak. May it bring you wonderful memories of the 1959-1960 school year. NOLLV •S ‘II ‘II l,r SIIOKI!' They were defeated by the Battlers 14-0 who scored in the second and fourth quarters. September 26 The Ipswich Tigers showed too much power as they scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and went on to win 39-6. October 2 The Miller Rustler's completed a successful Homecoming Day by defeating the Pirates 21-7. October 9 Despite a large home crowd for Homecoming Festivities, the Pirates succumbed to a power- ful Wessington Springs team 33-7. The game was closer than the score indicates and the Pirates were very much in the game until the fourth quarter. The score was knotted 7-7 at the half and Springs had only a 13-7 advantage at the close of the third quarter. October 16 The Pirates ended their 4-game losing streak with an 18-0 victory over the Eureka Trojans. All of Highmore's touchdowns were scored in the first half. October 23 The Mobridge Tigers wiped out a 12 point lead by Highmore to go on to win 35-12. October 30 The Pirates traveled to Faulkton for the last game of the season but were beaten 33-7. This gave the Pirates an overall 1-6-0 record. When Dick, Pat, and Dot Maxwell find themselves in charge of their home, during the absence of their mother, Pat persuades her brother and sister to rent rooms to Tourists in order to ease the need for funds. Mamie Beggs, the maid, who thinks of herself as also being an amateur detective refuses to become involved. When the house is full of would-be tenants, Mamie comes down with measles, quarantining the entire group for two weeks. Mamie is sure that Albert Wilson, his wife, Hortense, and their glamorous daughter, Annabelle, are criminals. Unwillingly, Annabclie becomes the means of bringing romance to Dot and Michael Street, a hand- some, young guest. Finally, Pat's love-lorn slave, Willie Peabody, stumbles on the key to the Wilson mystery and Pat decides people are pretty easy to get along with after all. All in all, the play was a big success and left the seniors with many memories. y _____________ BOTTOM ROW: SECOND ROW: THIRD ROW: FOURTH ROW: BACK ROW: Not Pictured: J. Weidenbach, J. Erlandson, A.
