Ware is an old friend of her families, while Blair is a com- parative stranger. She decides on Blair who gives her an odd engagement ring. That ring, or one resembling it, had been taken from the hand of her mother after she had been cruelly murdered 10 years ago. A recent crime of the aame nature has the police puzzled about both. Ann shows the ring to her Aunt Alice who at once devices a clever ruse to unravel the nystery and succeeds in finding Ware guilty. Blair and Ann make plans to marry. The young heroine. Sis Tuttle, has always gone steady with Jupe Bensen until wealthy, young David Durant comes to the Ozarks seeking to regain his health. Sls s personality draws much of David s attention and Jupe warns him Sis is his girl. David thinks of Sis as a sister until she disappears and the worry begins. Aunt Pliney keeps peace until Sis is found. Everyone ends up happy; Sis marrying David, Jupe marrying Hannah, and Pliney marrying Caleb. The scene is a rummage sale where you find Emma, who Is devoted to social work, opening the shop for the day. During the course of the day mary people stop. Those who buy goods are of the poorer sect and of many different nationalities. All who unload their problems on Emma. Things run smoothly until Emma starts selling clothes right off the back of Peter, who is trying to propose to her. All ends well with Emma in Peter's arms. Under the direction of Mr. Herbert Johnson H.H.S. s music department was kept at a busy pace heading for the goal they had set at the beginning of the year. Our 50 piece band was an asset to the community as well as to the school. Its officers for the year were: Donald Grable, Roger Bawdon, Alys Larsen, Mjrma Ferris and Marilyn Christensan. Small vocal and instrumental groups appeared for many different local affairs, and were greatly enjoyed and appreciated. Several high school students under the careful direction of Mr. Johnson helped with the grade school music. The music department has done a very nice Job this year. So hats off to H.H.S. s music department. BOY'S QUARTET ACCOMPANISTS- VOCAL SOLOISTS CHORUS COJICIL HIGHMORE BAND AT GYPSY DAY The halls of Highmore High abounded with music and musical sounds free mom till night. These familiar sounds were with us fron early January until the the first week in April. On April Uth and $th, in the fair city of Aberdeen, the regional music contest was to be held. The night of the 3rd, our aggregation of soloists and musical gooups was prepared to make a name for Itself. But Mother Nature had her way and on the night of the 3rd and the early mom of the Uth, 13 inches of snow fell on the City of Highmore. There were many broken hearts and a few sad faces because Highmore musicians couldn t make It to Aberdeen. This page was donated for the news and pictures that the music contest would have brought back to the halls of Highmore High. We offer the above picture because on the day it was taken, it was raining. Maybe the elements were against the music department this year. We, the staff of the Hisodak offer this as a replacement for something that really can t be replaced.
