Special People: extensive duties Updating all the records and files, the secretaries of Highline High keep very busy. They do much more than greet everyone with a smile and answer phones. ln the main office Mrs. Dena Pounds and cashier Mrs. Beverly Broughton kept the records and money in order. The attendance office was managed by Mrs. Lillian Mickelson, who was constantly at battle with the never- ending chore of keeping the attendance records up- to-date. Mrs. Drake, in the registration office, welcomed stu- dents and registered them in the proper classes. w it ,ff if .- ,..--uw KN' ng 5. ,wi o F , Counselors heighten career interests A counselor's job has many different aspects ranging from seeing that students are registered in proper classes to helping teachers help students. This year's counselors were Mr. Ken Crossman, senior counselor, Mr. Bert Williams, junior counselor, and Mrs. Mary Wining, sophomore counselor. Included also was Mrs. Patty Burgess as career counselor. The counselors worked from a framework of three major goals. First, they saw that students registered in the proper types and right number of classes. Second, coun- selors dealt with personal problems encountered by students and teachers. Perhaps the most important goal was helping students plan for the future by finding their interests and channeling these interests into possible careers. Hopefully, in the years to come, students will continue to recognize the counseling department as a valuable asset to the school.
