OLHCIQ FORCF O Stmidiiigz Mrs. Lillian Mickelsen, Mrs. aron lfurman, and Nlrs. Lois Taylor. Seated: Nlrs. Lilly' -Xnderson. Parents as Guides SSISTING in planning the tour for all the pupils, the l'.T.A. inaugurated a year of unique activities. International Relations Night brought friends from across the Canadian border to compare their school sy stem with that of High- line. These representatiyes from North Vancou- ver, B. C. participated in an unusual panel dis- cussion with the representatives from this area. It was found that the problems and advantages of the Canadian school closely' aligned with those of llighline. Two open houses in November and February' were attended by the interested parents who ac- quainted themselyes with the teachers and courses of study' of their children. To clarify the year end activities of this year's graduating seniors, the l'.T.A. had two Senior Pa- rents' Nights. During those meetings, the parents yoted to sponsor the senior cruise and the senior all-night party. Nlr. and Xlrs. If. C. Stiles and Nlr. and Xlrs. llobert Allen were chosen as co- chairmen of the senior parents. With a look to the future, a scholarship fund for graduating seniors planning on teaching ca- reers was raised by the l'.T..X. as a climay to the years actiyities. Itineraries Planned Here CllEDL'LlfS, filled out by the Office Travel Agency' during the summer months, were given to each student at the beginning of the school year to guide him on his journey of one hundred- eighty' days. Before departing on this tour each student was giyen a carefully scheduled itinerary. Summer months of hard work and explicit planning by the office force formed a background for the comple- ted guidebook. Nlrs. Lilly Anderson and her as- sistant coordinators k- Mrs. Lois Taylor, Mrs. Sharon Furman, and Xlrs. Lillian Mickelsen- kept the students' variety' of tours coordinated, re- routing the stragglers and answering S.O.S.'s for confused yoyagers. C'.A.S.H. Club worked in the attendance office each period of the day check- ing attendance and running errands. With the aid of these travel agents each students trip was made both pleasurable and convenient. At Highline, where nearly 2,000 students were taken on a 180-day tour of the world, the faculty literally worked day and night. Their goal was to give all an education, not a mere smatter- ing of facts about this and that, but the type of knowledge that makes boys and girls into individual men and women who are capable of thinking for them- selves. This was a year of accomplish- ment for the students, but none of the classes' ideas could have been carried out without the ubiquitous helping hands of the facultv.
