Charles Hodson, president, Lois Lemon. xeerelaryq Mi'. Wiggiiis, head adrixerg Marlicc Latimer, treaxf urer, lvlyron Buswell. ixicefpresidewit -UQNIOR CLASS OFFICERS. The Junior Home Front You know. Vern, this class is slowly disintegrating. Mtiiith hy month hoys leave for the service. As manpower dwindles, situations arise like the one in Fehruary, when there was an outhreak of feminine emotion cast on that idol of the hohhyfsock hrigade. Frank Sinatra. Despite this severe epidemic and other uprisings, such as Mair:5' Dear Vern, Doatsf' our Class of VH, as usual, kept up its excellent record. Under the eilicient leadership of Charles Hodson. lvlyron Buswell, Lois .lean Lemon. Marlice Latimer, and our faculty advisers. we happily plodded our way, directed hy Coach Wiggiiis. This years, contrary to custom, we had assemhlies. lvlyron persuaded some juniors, including Betty Thomas, Peggy Nichols, Dave Key, and -lerry Daughters, to unveil their talents not only hefore our meetings. hut also hefore the entire student hody. Perhaps our greatest success lay in the dramatic field. Continuing last yearls sweep, five of the six cast in Papa ls All were naturally juniors. Pat Barricklow, Lorraine Bourns, ,lim lvlclfachern, Burr Pmarthell, and lvlyron Buswell again hroke all estahlished records with two thrilling evening performances given to two massfpackcd auditoriums. Then. too. we juniors excelled in the art of selffexpression through music, scholar' ship, and dehate. ln the dehate tournament at College of Puget Sound, for example, juniors won four of the six Certificates of Me1'it awarded to Highline teams--fno mean record! All the dehaters, especially the femmes, loved C. P. S. hecausc of its thrilling scenery-the Army trainees. just as you displayed your athletic prowess in that hodyfhuilder, foothall, so eight of our fellows, roaring into the games with fight and courage, came through with first team awards: however, never to he forgotten were those hardfhitling juniors who ref ceived second team letters. Baskethall!! Vvfhoopeell Did our hoys show fight? l'm telling you, Vern, those were fast games. Wiiiiiiiig four of the eight league games, our players were victorious in spirit at all times under the inspiration of Captain jack Sherwood. black, incidentally, received the highest honor in the league, that of heing selected to allfconference hy twentyfthree of the twentyfseven that voted. Four juniors received first team awards and two juniors, second team. Because of the vacancies you and others have made, it took time for the remaining memhers of the team to organize. ln Nlarch, Jack Sher' wood, Ivliekey Ivlorrow, Pete lvIcDougal, Bill Burns, Rudy Uutteho, and Cecil Spears displayed their proficiency hy winning the junior-seniorfsophomore game twentyffive to seventeen. ln track, also, as this hook goes to press, it looks as if we have wingffooted contest' ants, although this sport was depleted more than any other hy the everfpresent draft and war joh. Thus ends a happy year, and are we glad that there is one more to go! Heres thinking of you, SH.,xRoN .mn MYRoN.
