OFFICERS The freshman Home Front Rememher us last year's eighth graders? You know us-7 the progressive group. Ilctir jim, Veell. now we are freshmen, and wcire still progressing! Say, you know the class elections you hadi' This year was no exception with Bill Case. presidentg Roh Klosterman, vicefpresidentg Shirley Shukis, secretaryg and Upal Harstad, treasurer. Mr. Hungerford was our head adviser. Highline has lfeen different since the war. The girls. not having anyone to tease, have even started to studyq hut in some ways our school is just the same as it was hcfore you left, The study hall is still a place to talk: the teachers still give long assignments: and the freshmen are still considered green, VX'e may he the underdogs, hut we have certainly had a good representation in all school activities. Oh, hoy! rememher the fun you had in orchestra? Vv'ell, the freshmen have taken quite a hold there and also in glee cluh and hand. This year. as usual, all students who were musically inclined and wished to do so went to the jason Lee .Iunior High, Tacoma, to the aimual music contest. Among freshmen who attended were Art Holcomh, first violin: Margaret I'erko, second violin: Teddy Holliday, viola: Dawn Bliss, cellog Gloria Patterson, violin: Oliver Fitch, haritone horn: Alden Clark. elarinetg Irene Lingwood, Xylophone: Bill Van Claskan. drums: Frances Snyder. vocalist: and Bruce Duncanson. pianist. Speaking of music, that department put on a program entitled The Parade of the Narionsf' with pantomime in the hackground. Many of the people in these pictures were freshmen. jim, rememher the hard time you had with algehra7 It is still a sticker, along with linglish and Latin. hut a few of us made Torch. nevertheless. This year we freshmen had the highest representation in that cluh. which goes to show we're pretty smart. And while we're on the suhicct of scholastic ahility, we also led at midfyear in the grand honor roll and honor roll. VX'e still have homeroom to keep us from heing trampled underfoot hy those swaggering Sophs, The freshmen home room advisers were Miss Palmer, Miss Patterson, Miss Reeves, Miss Rohowits. Miss Ross, Mr. Hungerford, Miss Snyder, Mr. Bitlen, Mr. Jensen, and Miss Rankin The junior high school turned out with the senior high school in track this spring. The freshmen were represented hy Howard Gilmore, Norman Tucker, Roland Druce. ,lack Jenson. Boyden Bain. Dick Funk, Don Trepanier, Chauncey Williziiiis.
