Organizations of Highlands High School bound together this year for one purpose, that of promoting school spirit. Brigade elections began the spirited year with the election of Molly Armsworth as presi- dent. Many leaders and students accompanied the football players on trips to Austin, Corpus, and Vic- toria to keep spirit running high. Symbols of spirit were evident throughout school this semester. The halls overflowed with the pur- chasing of strips, Student Council victory buttons, and Highlands' first pennants. Posters and murals made by the Brigade hung from the walls and ceil- ings telling of coming games. Skits at the pep rallies depicted the doomed hanging Edison Bear and Khrushchev cheerleaders. The circus drill, jazz routine, and other imaginative drills were put on by the pep squad and band in behalf of the Highlands High football team. All clubs and organizations worked together building school pride and spirit and setting traditions that will be remembered for years to come.
