Scotti h Fantasy- Since this is the very Brigadoon, it would be fitting and give its origin and its Brigadoon is a play by gifted playwright who wrote first issue of the to explain the name colorful background. Alan Jay Lerner, a the currently popular My Fair Lady. On March 13, 1947, Brigadoon opened on Broadway and was an immediate success. So good was the play, in fact, that it won the Critics Circle Award as the best musical play of 'I947-'48, Brigadoon takes an audience to Scotland and to whimsyland. Two adventure-seeking American hunters come upon the village of Brigadoon on the one day in each century when it rises from mists of magic to become a living, pulsing village once again. The two hunters are entranced with the actions and customs of the people, and with two Brigadoonian maids. So deeply does one of the men fall in love that, after his return to the United States, he journeys back to the forest glen in Scotland, where love works its magic and bears him again toward the island fantasyland, Brigadoon. The village of Brigadoon has much more charm and more vivacity than existing communities, and displays it in a truly mystical, musical fashion. Because of the appeal and the mysticism which the name suggests, the annual staff chose Brigadoon as the official title of this 1959 first edition of the yearbook for the students of Highlands.

Editor: As this first year at Highlands comes to a close, pause to reflect upon the activities and social events that made up your high school year. Throughout the pages of our book are captured the highlights of student life during the past terms. Everything that has been done the past year has established a precedent and been a first. We here at Highlands were fortunate in being the first students to attend classes in this building. Every part of the immense structure, from the ultra-modern auditorium to the industrial shops, is graceful and contemporary. On all the divisions and throughout the book, the building that is Highlands High is the dominant feature. Editor-In-Chief As the halls empty a-t the end of the afternoon, a senior boy and girl muse over the happenings of their final school days.
