.Kansas o i silken Rivals ' inVirginia 1 Blackstone to Play Highland Springs i l By Ai. namw It may he a long trek from Kansas back to Virginia, but two men educated in the Suntlowci 'State will be on opposite sides nl the football iield as rival coaches when 'Blackstone High opposes Highland Springs High on the lat- tefsgricliron at 2 P. Nl. tomorrow. As a matter of tact, both rev ceived a part of their collegiate education at Kansas State Teach- ers' College at Pittsburg. Sergeant Marvin Vandaveer, the Blackstone coach, stationed at Camp Pickett, attended the .Pittsburg college ini 1938 before receiving his degree, from 'the UniverSity of Kansas. The Highlanders' Herb Berry did all ' oE'his undergraduate work at the ' teachers' college. Both coaches also employ the T tormation, and a contest tea- tixring wide-open tactics is in pros- pect. The Blackstone boys have fared badly' against Class A oppo- sition in losing to Petersburg, 53-0' anclfrhomaa Jefferson, 33-0, hu this should. lie -a tairly even mate for them., The Highlanders hol victories over Chester and yavina i In another game on the count card tomorrow, Coach Dick Ber- t .gens Tho 2- le High, from ' ' - .J s Glen Allen llc , .
