T HE 1968-69 TRIBESMAN is dedicated to the memory 0f MILB URN T A T E MEEKER who served Highland Park Junior High School from 1946 to 1969 Teacher - Director of Student Activities - Sponsor of the Student Council - Counselor 0f Eighth and Ninth Grades $$$$$ Miss Milburn T. Meeker came to Highland Park Junior High School in 1946 and served twenty-three years in Raiderland in several different capacities. Her interests were varied. As a teacher of dramatics she adapted from the story The Littlest Angel, wrote, and produced the play that will long be remembered in our junior high school. Her untiring efforts in Student Council activities at the local and state levels won many honors for our school. This past year she received national recognition for the Student Council Summer Workshops, that were attended and enjoyed by many boys and girls from all parts of Texas. Pictures of the decorated doors at Christmastime which she spon- sored received national coverage in Better Homes and Gardens. Her enthusiasm for the Teach- er Appreciation Weeks will long be remembered. The beautifully decorated breakfasts were most enjoyable, and the useful gifts to the teachers are cherished and used each day. Miss Meeker believed that everyone should be well-groomed and fashionable, and she lived the part. She loved to wear beautiful clothes and encouraged our girls as well as our boys to be suitably dressed for school. As a counselor her strict adherence to rules and regu- lations is a good example to follow. Her inspiration and loyalty, expressed her devotion and love for boys and girls. $$$I0I$ It is easier to be wise for others than for ourselves. - LaRochefoucauld
