VARSITY FOOTBALL ESERVING of much credit for their never failing spirit, the Polar Bear football warriors hnished a successful season last November, having won five games. tied one. and lost one. They thus as- sured themselves of the runner-up position in the Detroit City League football competition of 1925. The Arctic gridsters boasted of the strongest defensive team in the league. as the season's total of opponents' points will show. The 1926 season produced many stars. some of whom were mentioned as all-city choices. Captain Myron, Hugh Kaumeier. Stewart Petit. Herbert Allum. and Jack Sumner were the men selected on the mythical all-city teams by the Detroit newspapers. All of these men, however, will be un- able to don the blue and white next season. and in addition Bill Hands. Charles Moyer, Harry Coll, Dick Ramsdell, Dave Ciolden, Allan French, Harry Trembath, John Loranger, William Langdon, Charles Thomas, and Fred Powers will graduate. Despite the loss of this array of talent the outlook for the coming season presents bright prospects, as captain-elect George Rowe. George Peters, Jack Eastman, Walter Perry, Victor Smith, Elmer Annis. Ralph Heikka, Lawrence Koeble and Fred Folsom will be eligible for competition. To Coach Steamer Horning must the credit be given for turning out the team that regained Highland Park's gridiron prestige after the season of re- verses of '24, for it was largely his sincere efforts and straightforward advice that put the Inner City men on an equal footing with the best elevens in the State.
