Judo Demonstration Miss Carol Nations and Miss Bonnie Haskett performed the gentle sport, judo, for several gym classes this fall. They demonstrated prelimin- ary exercises before entering into “courteous com- bat. All agreed it was a unique show. Think Snow! ... Oomph! Jan. 26-28 left Highland Park in a novel predicament—paralyzed. One of the biggest snow storms of tho century descended on the unsuspecting town. Transportation and communication were disabled, while Sunset and Jewel-Osco were bombarded by frantic mothers hoarding milk and broad (pity the poor store clerks!). Isn't it a shame that we were out of school for semester break? 16

Winter Assembly Tho Winter Concert this year represented many hours of rk. In keeping with tho Holiday Season the orchestra, con- cted by Mr. Haberland. gave a fine performance of Nut- sckcr Suite by Tschaikovsky, and Treble Clef presented A adlo Song by Parko. In addition, Senior Choir performed Christmas Song by Torme. undor tho direction of Mr. Albin. The Madrigal Singers also presented several selections. The program this year was a varied one except for the traditional ending of the Hallelujah Chorus. John Brown’s Body The combined drama classes presented an oral interpreta- tion of Stephen Vincent Benet's poem. John Brown's Bod. Tho reader's theater production used skeleton props and moke- up. The basic choYus supplied the narration, as well as tho principal actors, in this unique saga of the Civil War. Nancy Mojerow play Mary Lou Wingato. $ymbol of Soufhorn womanhood.

Slinky Experiment Physics classes at Highland Park give students the opportunity to ex- orciso their little-known talents—like throwing slinky toys down the cor- ridor. During the first week in March, Mr. Hanson and Mr. Martin's classes spent thoir lab periods observing wave characteristics on the floor of the guidance department hallway. The experiment proved to be a good learning experience, especially when it came to untangling slinkies and cleaning dusty posteriors. 17 Affor tho snow storm.
