HONORS, HONORS, AND MORE HONORS The Pot Floyd Memorial Award, in honor of Pat Floyd who would have graduated in 1951, is presented to the most deserving junior girl. The junior sessions nominate candidates on the basis of leadership, character, and service. After the principal, deans, and junior session advisers have narrowed the list to three girls, the juniors vote on these three. Mary Amidei was selected in 1962. The Harvard Book Club offers an award to the most outstanding junior boy, who is chosen by the principal, deans, and junior boys' session advisers. In 1962, Charles Redman received the Harvard Book Award. On the basis of the Notional Merit exam token in their junior year, 7% of the seniors qualified for the semi-finals. The 24 semi- finalists mode HPHS one of the highest ranked schools in Illinois.
