Our speech instructors guide us in learning to talk with assurance before others. By teaching us to outline and organize, the English faculty help us to develop concise, logical writing styles. Through their efforts, we have emerged from their courses knowing not only how to read, write, and speak, but also how to think. The math department is no longer sure whether 2 + 2 = 4, With the new mathematics program, teach- ers are de-emphasizing computation and stressing an understanding of theory. During the past few years, the science department has also revamped its pro- gram, using experimental courses, such as CBA and Chem Study, as well as the more traditional ap- proaches. The students in the experimental groups per- form experiments and draw their own conclusions, rather than finding the expected results in the text- book first.
