After an outstanding indoor season, Mr. Ault expected his trackmen to hold their own in outdoor competition. Dave Rudolph was one of the top pole vaultors in the state. He also competed in the discus and relay events. Other standout runners included Mike Altman and Buzzy Joseph. Hurdlers Bob Brown and Jim McLaughlin along with shotputter Bob Benvenuti were other key performers. The frosh-sophs also enjoyed a victorious indoor season. Returning from last year. Gene Altman and John Scornovacco led the team in the running department. With enough freshmen to round out the squad, they had an exceptional year. For the first time in many years the varsity nine had enough pitching depth to be a winning team. This year’s mound staff consisted of Roger Lunardi, Charles Root. Dick Kushen, R. Foreman, and Mike Morris. Other regulars in the lineup are Fred Krase, Denny Herrmann, Steve Shankman, and Terry Trcgcr. The first games showed a terrific improvement over last year. Tile sophomores seemed to be taking up where they left off last year. After winning most of their games as freshmen, they dropped only one early season contest this year. If this season’s freshman team improved its fielding it could equal the achievments of last year's frosh. FRESHMAN BASEBALL TEAM Front Row: Tom Wilson. Jack Peterson, Bob Gagcn. Dick Kubalck.
