Limited space allowed eight hundred girls and their mothers to attend the Ban- quet, while 1019 flocked to the Benefit show. The latter, consisting of songs, dances, and skits by an all-girl cast, provided $6 X) for the Girls’ Club scholarship fund. The waiters (better known as the Boys’ Club) did a fine job serving the dinner. By the way, they cut down on accidents this year. Decorating the decorations are the “Giant fans. Snake Dance When the hour of seven arrived on the evening of October 19. 1956, the annual Homecoming week-end began. Led by the cheerleaders, many eager HPHS students, wearing blue and white beanies, formed a snake dance through the streets of Highland Park. With a “Blue, while, fight, fight” and a Go, Highland Park, Go” the stu- dents filled the auditorium with cheers and bright colored banners. These were only a few of the features of the rally, at which the seniors won the cheering contest. At the game on Saturday against Proviso, many of the alumni were seen cheering our Giants on. Hoarse from the game, Saturday evening found us completing a festive day at the Homecoming Dance. Ivor Buerk and his orchestra provided music for the evening, made possible by the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs. There was a record sale of 274 tickets, making the dance a profitable good time. Where are the snakes at their dance? Hail, hail the gang's all here -— consoling themselves over the day's loss. Page 8
