FRANK FRl'l'l'S President PEGGY SIMMONS Vice-president X -A - , o' ..',.:' f ' my DELORES AARON Secretary i . ': MARILYN CUSIC Treasurer CLASS OF 1949 Nineteen hundred and forty-five was a big year in the worId's history. The war ended in Germany and in Japan. The war BEGAN in Highland Park High School. We arrived! We, the instigators of many a noble deed and nefarious plot, were making our debuts as freshmen. At first we were greatly overawed by all we saw, but by the time Don Meek and Ronald Plummer had been initiated for the tenth time, we began to get the hang of things. Steadily we advanced in scholarship, athletics, music, dramatics, and just plain chicanery! Ah, and then there was our sophomore year. That, you recall, was the year when Lindsay Gillespie's obsession was drawing circles on Miss Baskett's walls. Not to be satisfied with that, he daintily dropped a lighted match from a second story window, thus starting a whopping big grass fire, much to the delight of his classmates, For a few moments we thought that the building was sure to go! But it didn't!! During the same term Jerry Fisher, when charging like a wounded bull after Bob Diel during football practice, failed to see the goal post looming in his path. He stopped rather abruptly! When he finally came to, he seemed surprised to see the gang bending over him. Upon being asked the date, he replied, Aw, heck, Coach, l wouldn't know that anyway! The entire iunior year seemed to revolve around the prom scheduled for that spring. With our customary fervor, we produced a sensational play in order to raise more money for the Heavenly prom which we demons decided to stage. ln due time the big night rolled around. Interesting sights were Frank Fritts proudly exhibiting an orchid corsage fwith Donna Bledsoe attached? and a formidable stag line featuring .Messrs. Fisher, Horton, and Purdy. ln spite of all the fun we have had in years past, this senior year has been best of all. We'Il always remember Tom Sawyer's impersonations of Jim- my Durante, especially the time his putty nose stuck on the piano keyboard! The year hasn't been all fun, however, School days for many of us will soon be over and all of us have been doing more thinking than in times gone by. ln several fields we have reached a new high, We have set a high goal for the classes which will follow.
