S., Seniors Exercise Dramatic Abilities, Present Clarence Audiences viewing fhe I97O senior play, Life Wifh Fafher, saw fhe finished producf of many weelcs of rehearsal. Sev- eral problems had fo be solved, including how fo fone down some of fhe colorful language used in fhe original scripf wifh- ouf spoiling fhe flavor of fhe play. The seffing of fhe fhree-acf comedy was New York during fhe lafe l88O's. The play cenfered around fhe Day family. As parenfs, John Davis and Shannon Wool' ley, experienced fhe frials of raising four boys: Spence Shyfles, Russel Berger, Bobby Manning, and Roberf Bernsfein. The anfics of Mr. Day led fhe family fhrough a succession of five maids: Mary Jo Trice, Pam Dealy, Barbara Collier, Day's Comedy Hit Francis Smylie, and Kafhleen Brand. Tim Hughes and Sfeve Websfer porfrayed fhe worried docfors. Visifing relafives Marlene McLain and her young friend, Susan McCumber, bofhered Mr. Day. who desired only privacy. Ted Russell played fhe Reverend Dr. Floyd. Sfudenf direcfor Teresa Davidson as- sisfed direcfor Mrs. Carla McGee. Sfage direcfor David Parnell and business direc- for Bob Smifh helped organize fhe me- chanics of fhe play while Jaime Goggans and her crew, made sure fhe play re- ceived publicify. TO GIVE AN early boost to Christmas spirit, Lads and Lassies members carol in the halls ot HP. Scots Celebrate Christmas Parties, Aid Charity Programs in December i ,ii --r n' ' AFTER BATTLIN6 THE contusion ot a clay at school, underclassmen board the bus tor home. Celebration and generosity typitied the enchantment ot Christmas as Scots attended parties, presented programs, and aided the needy. The Key Club members collected toys tor the Salvation Army and spread carol- ing cheer at the Crestview Rest Home. The Junior Civitan Club participated in a two-week Anti-Hunger Campaign, sponsored by several Dallas churches, to gather canned goods tor underprivileged tamilies. For band members the holidays had a swinging start, beginning with their annu- al Christmas ball and climaxed by a late- night brealitast. The Freight provided en- tertainment at the Hi-Lite dance, en- hanced by a peasant-gypsy setting. Lads and Lassies carolled through the halls ot HP tor the tirst time in 4I years. Lads and Lassies pertormed tor Dallas Womens Forum, the Highland Parlc Rota- ry Club, and Girls' Auxiliary. Together with the orchestra, the choirs presented the story ot Christmas in song at an eve- ning program. Hi-Lites helped toster the holiday spirit by making Red Cross candy stockings tor children at the Presbyterian Hospital. The Weltare Committee gave a party tor the children at EI Barrio Community Center, December 22. The STP Tri-Hi-Y played a baslcetball game with iunior boys in order to raise money tor the tight against tuberculosis. The boys wore boxing gloves as one ot their handicaps. The game, played in the Highland Parlc gym during activities peri- od, netted about S250 through the 25 cent admission charge. December 0 29
