L. Turner tor the 8-AAAA title. The Highlander Band at halttime enter- tained at tootball games and received two tirst division ratings in the University lnterscholastic League and Hurst Invita- tional marching contest tor the second consecutive year. Doug Garner began a new tradition at HPHS this year by designing and making a yellow, blue, and white eight-by-twelve toot tlag bearing the words HP Scots. At tootball games trom the side lines, Doug waved this Hi Park symbol to add to the spirit. Peggy Sears received the Miss Teenage Dallas title November I, and on November 2 Student Council President Dan Yoder announced Hi Park's own queen, Homecoming Queen Ann lvleador. The other nominees included Patty Pierce, Diane Hinckley, Kathy Fitzhugh, Anne Herndon, and Lynn Cory. Another outstanding student, Elizabeth Gray, selected as one ot 23 students trom Texas, received the l97O National Coun- cil ot Teachers ot English Award. Atter tive weeks ot daily rehearsals with the cast, Shannon Woolley and John Davis acted lead roles in this year's senior play, Lite With Father, pertormed on No- vember l9 and 20. November 0 25
