GROWING WITH HI PARK HI . Page Two YYY lgY, , ,W , l With current student population straining the classroom facilities of a twenty-year-old build- ing, Highland Park High School anticipates fur- ther enrollment increase within the next few years. In order to relieve current crowded condi- tions, eliminate the inconvenience of the tem- porary annex building, and provide growing room for the future, eight new classrooms were started in the summer of 1956 with the com- pletion date set for early 1957. Other not so obvious improvements this year were the new indirect lighting and sound-proof ceilings in all classrooms and offices throughout the building. Night football games took on new sparkle and brilliance as a new set of field lights made it easier for both players and spectators to locate each other and the ball. To change the song of last year's spectators, Football is a Many-Splin- tered Thing, new bleachers were put in two sections. Not only were the classrooms crowded but also the streets surrounding the building. The problem of finding a parking place has been growing for several years. To relieve this situa- tion, 122 additional parking places were made. To add to the comfort of our school, air con- ditioners were put in a few offices. Highland Park students are fortunate in having a faculty and a school board behind them who support a program of continual improve- ment in order that Highland Park may be fore- most in progress toward better school living.
