PARTICIPLES AND PRONOUN S Reading, 'riting, and rehearsing are the three r's of our English, journalism and speech de- partments. Improvement in reading comprehen- sion and speed is an aim of the English teachers. Literature and grammar studies round out a balanced English program. Effective writing in newspaper style is fea- tured in journalism classes. The Bagpipe, Hi Park's newspaper, provides a laboratory work- shop for the students. The goals reached by constant rehearsing in the speech classes are poise, diction, and tonal quality. Students study the fundamentals of direction and production as well as the tech- niques of good acting. Page Twelve
