ATX A R PROGRESS OF SCHOOL The Highland Park Public School system has been in existence since 1914, at which time 830,000 worth of bonds were issued for building purposes. The school system consisted of only one room then, and Eve years later the High School had only a total of nineteen pupils in attendance. Today, eleven years later, we have approximately seven hundred and fifty pupils enrolled. ln l922 the first two floors of the High School and the gym were constructed: four years ago the annex and an addition to the gym were built, last year the third floor was completed. Mr. Cable became superintendent of the Highland Park Public Schools in 1920. There were only twelve people, including the superintendent, principals, teachers, stenographers, and janitors, employed by the Highland Park High School when lVlr. l-awler, our Hrst principal, was elected. When Mr, Wiseman became our principal last year, this number had multiplied. until this year there are 37 people employed in the High School alone. Highland Park has always been ranked as a Class A school in efficiency and in scholastic standing. but has only been Class A in Athletics for two years. Before we became Class A in Athletics, however, we met Class A teams, and furnished them with stanch opposition. The fact that we have been successful MSX in all lines of competition is evidenced by the many cups in our trophy cases.
