Before we begin to deal with this his- tory, let us point out that we could not have fairly listed this genus as Homo sophomorus sapiens because-well, what underclassmen can you think of as both being human and possessing the power of thought? Perhaps even in calling them Thinking Sophomores we have gone too far. Naturally we assume that before entering this hallowed institution of learning, our Soph- omorus sapiens were practically nil. The fine influence of us-the upperclassmen-soon brought them from their stupor and introduced them to 10-1 HOMEHOOM First row: N. Scarcella, M. Wytow, L. Keller, N. Williamson. M. Heifler. B. During the first Christmas vacation the present sophomore class enjoyed from H.P.H.S., a group of their boys made a few feeble attempts to learn the game of basketball, and although their efforts were not too successful, spirit and promise were evident. Other members of the class also began to take part in school life. In the spring several groups took trips to New York for the purpose of attending musical shows or other educational events. As this, the second year of life of the present Sophomorus sapiens, is waning, we may notice a great improvement. Some of the males of the genus are beginning to make themselves known on the varsity ath- letic teams, and the females are noticeable for r lf. ltjl 1. . ' io-z HOMDROOM l First row: R. Bruck. H. With the com- ing of spring, thoughts turned to softball and the sunny outdoors. This was played through the spring until the close of school. Later in the season, the two clubs combined to hold their annual picnic at the park. After membership of one year, the girls are awarded with a letter. After the letter they re- ceive a certificate for each additional year they belong to the club. The girls showed great sportsmanship throughout the year, had lots of fun and ended up an enjoyable season with sports. Bohus. Third row: M. Meade, M. lstvan, B. Henderson, P. Clewell, H. Stamps, M.
