- I lT'S PRINCIPALS THAT COUNT Mr, Jack Burnell, in his second year at Highland, takes a friendly interest in people and program, An avid skier and hunter, this outdoorsman supports all sports-oriented activities, He is a native of Bellevue, a source of many stories of early days here, Mr. Henry Howe, new vice principal, is a former science teacher and elementary principal, A singer, golfer, and sup- porter of student activities, he has brought table tennis, noon movies, and additional student store supplies, Whether Mr. Burnell qfar lefty is writing office re- ports, chatting with stu- dents in the hall, or discussing building prob- lems, he's busy and in- terested. Mr. Howe, shown telephoning and talking with a student, has had an important role this year. Page 12

Counseling 280 seventh graders was Miss Helen Hostetter, who began counseling at Highland in 1962, This year she taught the new yearbook class, Mrs, Audrienne Claar, eighth grade counselor, teaches a directed study class, Coming to High- land in 1962 as a teacher, she has hand- led sewing and drama classes, Mr, Joseph Underwood came to Highland last year from Chinook. In addition to counseling ninth graders, he taught a developmental reading class.
