Joseph Lord, jack Venemon, Herman Praetorius President. The Board of Education expresses its appreciation for the students of Highland High School. We enjoy working with you and like your co-operation. The school spirit shown at Highland is commendable and it is our hope that it will con- tinue. Your loyalty for your school and for each other is a trait that we hope you will carry with you out into life. This attitude toward your school and toward other people is im- portant, and will give you the right approach to meeting life's problems and living a more useful life. XY'e sincerely wish you every success in the future. E. Ralph Strausz SUPIQRINTISNDITNTS MESSAGE Approximately 15 years ago the voters in the Cowiche, Naches Heights. and Tie-ton school districts decided to consolidate into one larger district in orcler to provide better educi1tion.1l opportunities for their boys and girls. The first project was the construction of a new high school build- ing. Several ye.1rs later two new elementary buildings and a new .lgricultuml building were constructed. Our district was one of the first in the state to replace all its old school buildings with modern ones. During this short time the Highland Schools have earned an enviable reput.ition as Ll school system with excellent school spirit. This reputation has been earned by the students in ilctivities such as pnrticiptition in the recent Voice of Democracy contest, March ot Dimes fi.1IUM1l'l1, hi th scholtirshi in collere success in athletics 3 5- a 7 and good school citizenship, XY e are proud of this record and ap- preciate the encoumgement and backing we have received from the people in our community. Foremost event of the year came when the F.F.A, took second place for its display at the fair. Members searched high and low for choice apples, pears, plums, beans, peas, corn and pumpkins. A special effort was made to locate the finest wheat, oats, and barley. Having found the articles the boys spent many night hours building and decorating the display. Their efforts were rewarded when spectators commented that the booth was outstanding. Activities of the F.F.A. were many and varied. Members attended the annual jamboree at Sunnyside.
