It is the representa- tives' responsibility to express the ideas of his fellow students before the council and to inform them of the council's action. By sponsoring the traditional All High Dance, the A.S.B, under the enthusiastic leadership of Janice Smith formally opened the social program of Highland High School. Our unique activity this year was the organization of a recreation hall. Long hours were spent cleaning, painting, and fixing it into ping pong and dancing order. Our appreciation goes to Mr. Personette, our advisor, Mr. Kenneth Leader, and Mr. Ralph Thomas for their enthusiasm in the furthering of this project. The council has striven to provide High- land High with a year of interesting ac- tivities. These last two years we have been very successful in live- stock iudging throughout the state. It was clirnaxed this tall at the Pacific International Livestock Exposition at Port- land where we won two 3rd place banners and a 2nd place banner out ot six classes. There were 70 tearns represented from three states. The Highland F.F.A. also sends two representa- tives to the state F.F.A. convention at Pullman, Wash- ington each year. One ot the most outstanding events we enjoyed this year was moving into our new Ag- ricultural Building. f' -, fl, 'rr L. - r ' ' ' - . .bl-V . s P ' -c. We seemed to laclc that cohesiye factor of all-out team play that goes with a winning team, a thing ditticult to put your finger on. As individuals, the squad was great, as a team we lust could not seem to click. Fortunately, most ot our squad is back for another year, and with the experience ot '56 behind them and the realization that football is nothing if not a team sport, we look forward to '57 wtih a great deal of anticipation. This year's graduating seniors had their pleasure in last year's championship squad. Let's hope that next year's graduating seniors plan to get their pleasure from a championship squad in '57. ,sign The Scotties' '56 season revealed encouraging aspects that may point to a brighter future tor the Highland gridders. We were pleased with the many Freshmen who turned out and dis- played a fighting spirit. Our B squad backtield edualls any team we met, On occasions the tellovvs up front on the line played with determination and demonstrated that they could play their respective positions with vigor, skill, and the aggressiyeness required ot them to do their iob.
