The Highland 1953 football team started out the season with 68 candidates for the various positions. There were quite a few lettermen back, and the rest were boys with a lot of desire and willingness to play football. The Scotties opened up against a strong Prosser ball club which over-powered the Scotts 28-13 for the win. In the second game the Scotties took their re- venge by traveling to Sumner, beating Sumner 27-0 in a lop-sided tilt. In the first leagpe game against Marquette, Highland proved that they were not easily overcome when they lost by only one touchdown 27-20 against the league winning Mar.quette Squires. The following week was very successful for the Scotties. With very few mistakes, they ran over the favored Wapato team 40-6 in the Scott's best game of the year. jim Newbill Richard Kirkendal Dwight Pool Ardith Moberly jack Driver Leo Cozza Stan Sorenson RON ROCHEI.
