The 1980-81 wrestling team started out slow and have not yet met their full potential. Newcomer to the Hornet coaching staff. Cliff Laughflin. says in 81 the wrestlers will do a lot better. There are certain individuals on the team that no one in the state could touch if they put their minds to it. Coach Laughflin also feels that wrestling is a sport that is classified as one of the top skilled events. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication in order to perform. Cliff went to Pueblo East High School and received a full-ride scholarship to the University of Northern Colorado. There he received top honors as the AAU Champion and the NCAA National Champion. 112

 With all the changing faces around Highland this year, you probably wouldn't be too surprised to hear that the boy's swimming team has a new coach this year. Frank Orten. who just graduated from C.U. in January now holds a full-time job while coaching in the evening. The boys have had to adjust to later practices instead of practicing right after school. Although the coach's job inconveniences the guys a little, they really like him and are glad to have him aboard. TOP: Jimmy Madsen gives a big smile before his dive.
