 This year's golf team is much better than last year s team. Even though finishing poorly in districts, they did very well this year. They set a new team record of 385 strokes this year at Foothills Golf Course. Team members were: senior. Scott Clark; juniors. Joe Ramos and Jeff Staab; and sophomore. Jim Rivera. Oscar Falcon from Mexico, is playing 1st singles for Highland, and will most likely end up going to state with Chris Christensen right at his side in 2nd singles. At 3rd singles is Craig Lewis, who is doing exceptionally well for his first year in singles. Paul Harvey and Jesus Falcon are doing well at 2nd doubles. while Randy Marshall and Rudy Aragon are doing just as well at 3rd doubles.  After training with the girls all summer, swimming coach Ms. Tufly was reassigned to a new job at York Junior High on the first day of school. This left the girls swimming team without a coach temporarily until Ms. Heibert took the task a week later. Although the girls didn’t start off the year with a super impressive record. Coach Heibert said ’every one of their meets were important because the girls were out there improving themselves.”. She added that, all the girls are outstanding, not just a few because they are all out there participating.” A new school record was set this year by Rosemary Drajem in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:12.5. against the Norseman.
