With all those qualities you would think the team is on its way: but since the beginning of the season, the squad has been plagued with injuries. Just as they would get one member back, somebody else would fall from the roster. Coach Fusiek describes the team as the biggest and the most talented team he has coached in his nine year career here at Highland. 'We’ve set our goals high, the coaching staff and I have never put this much time in during the offseason in preparation for the upcoming year. I’m confident that the 1980 football squad is going to come out of this year the first Highland team with the Class AAA State Title Trophy. No newcomer to football Coach Fusiek graduated from high school with All-Conference and All-State honors as a 6’3” 2401b. offensive lineman. Fusiek received a full ride scholorship to the University of Colorado, where he played for four years, and then went on to the professional ranks. If Highland has ever had a chance at the State Title this is the year to do it!” Certainly, this man should know. 100

The experience of learning to be a head coach is really different!!
